Kids Fitness Challenge - 5K an amazing success!

More than 7,500 people attended the 2nd Annual Kids Fitness Challenge 5K Run/Walk/Ride and Health Expo at Auto Club Speedway on April 19. Partners of the premiere kids fitness event in the Inland Empire include Kids Fitness Challenge Foundation, San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, Auto Club Speedway, IEUW KidSmart, City of Fontana/Healthy Fontana, Healthy Chino and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

Kids of all ages and their families came to experience the thrill of coming out of the tunnel and onto the NASCAR track. In addition to the 5K, the Health Expo took place all morning and featured:

• Fitness Zone (climbing wall and obstacle course)
• Sports activities & free health screenings
• BMX stunt show
• IEUW KidSmart Soccer Clinic

Inland Empire United Way coordinated this year's soccer clinic in partnership with Cal Poly Pomona Bronco Athletics and the Arena Indoor Sports Complex in Upland.

An estimated 800 kids went through the soccer clinic, which included skills training from the Arena's professional coaches, and then a fun scrimmage against players from the Cal Poly Pomona Men's Soccer team. A special clinic for toddlers was put on by the Arena's Lil' Kickers program. Each participant received a prize which ranged from soccer cleats to lunch coolers.
